Solving the leak in the ammonia bottling plant

Original condition

Unsuitable sealing material made of sintered PTFE was used in the flange connections, which gradually loses its thickness (i.e. leaks) under load, i.e. tightening of the flange connection.

New solution

  • A restructured PTFE seal with POWERflon20 PINK inert fillers was designed for flange joints
  • Inert fillers prevent material flow under load
  • Application and proper tightening of the gaskets according to our recommendation resulted in a high tightness and safety of the joint without the need for continuous flange tightening
