Material range of Teflon products
PTFE (Teflon) is a versatile polymer that is widely used in various industries. In gaskets, Teflon is a popular choice in many applications due to its excellent chemical resistance and high temperature tolerance.
Teflon gaskets come in a variety of material modifications (pure, restructured, expanded). Our brand name POWERflon refers to restructured and expanded phone products that have improved certain mechanical properties and do not melt cold compared to standard pure Teflon.
When selecting a Teflon seal, it is essential to consider the specific requirements of your application to select the best type for your needs. We will be happy to help you with this.
Seals made from pure PTFE exhibit high cold flow and creep due to the lack of reinforcement, making them less suitable for high pressure and high temperature applications that require reliable sealing performance over long periods of time.
In contrast, restructured PTFE gaskets with fillers such as glass or silicon offer improved mechanical properties, do not melt cold and have increased strength. The addition of fillers to PTFE helps resist deformation and flow under constant load, making them more suitable for high pressure and high temperature applications. However, compared to pure PTFE gaskets, filled PTFE gaskets can be less flexible and more susceptible to chemical attack.
These seals are made by expanding PTFE material into a thin, flexible film with micropores that allow the material to compress and seal effectively. Expanded PTFE gaskets are known for their excellent sealing performance at low tightening torque. They are also resistant to cold flow, making them an excellent choice for applications that require consistent sealing performance over long periods of time.
