Material range of graphite products
Graphite gaskets are available in various designs such as die-cut, spiral wound, tape or cord.
Their quality may vary depending on the type of graphite used (its purity) and the manufacturing process. For graphite, the main parameter is oxidation, which is the loss of material due to temperature and oxygen. This can cause a reduction in bolt tension, reducing seal pressure and leading to leaks. The quality of graphite is determined by its purity as higher levels of chloride, fluoride and sulphur can increase oxidation and cause pitting corrosion. The TGA analysis is used to detect oxidation by measuring weight loss. The higher the loss in TGA analysis, the lower the quality of the graphite.
The required graphite quality is selected according to the specific requirements of the application. For the most demanding applications, such as nuclear power plants, we have nuclear grade with a graphite purity of 99.8%. For less demanding applications we offer a PREMIUM version with 99% purity and an ECONOMY version with x% purity.
