On the basis of the request of Slovnaft a.s., external workers were tested from 23 to 30 April and 9 May 2019 in the assembly of flange connections before the 2019 shutdown.
On the basis of the request of Slovnaft a.s., a rehearsal of external workers from the assembly of flange joints before the shutdown 2019 took place between 23 and 30 April and 9 May 2019.
The testing was carried out on exercise flanges. The steps of safe disassembly and subsequent PS assembly were evaluated. Great emphasis was placed on the inspection of the seating surfaces, condition of fasteners and gaskets, as well as the lubrication of fasteners, installation of gaskets and subsequent controlled tightening. The fitters performed the tightening according to the cross rule with a specified tightening torque in 4 steps using a torque wrench. The individual steps of the safe disassembly and assembly procedure were scored and finally evaluated together with a pressure test.
The purpose of the evaluation was to assess the overall assembly skills of the assembler. If the examinee did not have a basic understanding of PS assembly, he or she failed the test.
Around 10 companies from about 5 countries were registered.
A total of 263 fitters took part in the tests, of which 22 failed**.
