DNP
2,4-Dinitrophenol (DNP) is a yellow crystalline solid that is water soluble and has a bitter taste. DNP has been used as a pesticide, fungicide and herbicide, but is considered highly toxic and has been banned for most of these uses. DNP has been found to have thermogenic effects, meaning that it increases the body's metabolic rate and causes fat burning. However, due to its high toxicity and potential risks, the use of DNP as a dietary supplement for weight loss or as a food additive is illegal.
