Benzenecarboxylic Acid
Benzoic acid is a white crystalline solid. It is a naturally occurring compound found in many plants, and is also produced synthetically for use in various industrial and consumer products. Benzoic acid is used as a food preservative and is also used in the manufacture of plastics, resins and other chemicals. It is generally considered safe for use in food and other products when used in reasonable amounts, but in high concentrations it can irritate the skin and mucous membranes.
