Soap Liquor
Black sulphate liquor, also known as 'black liquor', is a by-product of the kraft process, a method of making pulp from wood. During this process, the lignin in the wood is dissolved to produce a dark viscous liquid containing a mixture of organic and inorganic compounds. This liquid is called black liquor because of its colour. Black liquor is rich in organic compounds such as lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose and also contains inorganic compounds such as sodium carbonate, sodium sulphide and sodium hydroxide.
