Dibenzofuran is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon that is considered a pollutant and is found in industrial waste, coal tar and creosote. Dibenzofuran has been classified as a possible human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and has been found to have toxic effects on aquatic organisms.
