HCB, Perchlorobenzene
Hexachlorobenzene (HCB), also known as perchlorobenzene, is an organochlorine compound that is a white crystalline solid with a faint chlorine odor. It was used in the past as a fungicide and pesticide, but has been banned in many countries due to its persistence in the environment and its potential to accumulate in the food chain. HCB is considered a potential human carcinogen and long-term exposure to it can have negative effects on the liver, immune and nervous systems.
