Cetane
Hexadecane, also called cetane, is a hydrocarbon, a colorless liquid with a slight gasoline-like odor. It is a component of mineral oils and is also found in many other natural and man-made products. Hexadecane is used as a solvent and lubricant and is also used as a reference material in the analysis of other hydrocarbons. It is non-toxic and non-flammable. It is also used as a component of some lubricants and greases and can be found in some cosmetics and personal care products.
