Methyl Iodide
Iodomethane, also known as methyl iodide, is a colourless, volatile liquid with a pungent, sweetish odour. It is highly flammable and toxic and can be dangerous if inhaled. Iodomethane is used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and is mainly used as a reagent in various chemical reactions, including the production of other iodine compounds and in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and pesticides.
