Stearyl Alcohol, 1-Octadecanol
Octadecanol, also known as stearyl alcohol, is a white waxy solid with a slight oily odor at room temperature. Stearyl alcohol is used as an emulsifier, thickener and lubricant in the manufacture of cosmetics and personal care products such as soaps, lotions and creams. It is also used as a starting material for the production of other chemicals such as surfactants, esters and plasticizers.
