Persulfates - peroxymonosulfates and peroxydisulfates, are oxidizing agents that are commonly used as initiators of polymerization reactions and as hair bleaches, teeth whiteners and cleaning agents. They are also used as analytical reagents in various chemical reactions and as disinfectants in water treatment.
