Thionyl Dichloride
Thionyl chloride is a highly reactive inorganic chemical compound that is commonly used as a chlorinating and sulfonating agent in various industrial processes. It is a colourless, fuming liquid with a strong, pungent odour that is soluble in many organic solvents. Thionyl chloride is used in the manufacture of a wide range of products, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, dyes and surfactants, as well as in the synthesis of esters and other organic compounds.
