Product description

Leaky flange connections are a common cause of sudden and long outages. These leaks are usually caused by incorrect installation of the flange connections, where uneven tightening occurs even under the same tightening torque. This is due to improperly lubricated fasteners and possible seizure.

POWERtorque LF kote 450 is a hot cured lubricant. It forms a dry, surface-embedded, sliding film with a long-lasting lubricating effect even under extreme compressive loads. The thin lubricating film permanently separates the individual materials from each other = prevents surfaces from "biting" into each other (e.g. bolt and nut). Especially suitable for stainless steel materials.

  3. Minimizes the coefficient of friction.
  4. Minimal dispersion of tightening forces across individual bolts ensures even compression of the seal.
  5. Uniform tightening ensures a tight joint.
  6. Allows for trouble-free loosening.
  • Use from -70 °C to 450 °C.
  • Extremely resistant to pressure exerted in screw threads or on washers during tightening.
  • Completely eliminates lubrication errors on site.

Resistance to compressive loads (in threads, under nut head) - ASTM 2625 Method B loads > 250,000 psi (1,750 MPa).
ASTM 2714 Method A wear > 300 minutes.

Lubricant Application

The application of POWERtorque LF kote 450 dry lubricant to fasteners has its own process and requires special equipment. For this reason, the application cannot be carried out by the customer himself.

  • We apply it to the fasteners supplied by us and by you - bolts, washers, nut faces.
  • Can be applied to any base material - stainless steel, black steel, zinc and others.

Effect of POWER®torque LF 450 on the transmission of tightening force:

  • Knowing the coefficient of friction is important for the actual calculation of the tightening torque and determining the exact pressure on the seal.
  • A constant coefficient of friction for all fasteners used will ensure that the pressure on the gasket is evenly distributed around the perimeter of the flange sealing surface.

Tested according to ČSN EN ISO 16047, which stipulates the conditions for performing torque and clamping force tests for fasteners.
