1,2-Dibromo-3-chloropropane (DBCP) is a colorless liquid that is used as a pesticide and nematocide, a chemical that kills nematodes. DBCP has been found to be toxic to humans and animals and its use has been banned in many countries due to its negative effects on the environment and human health. Because of these risks, the use and production of DBCP is strictly regulated in many countries.
