Carbon Bisulfide, Methanedithione
Carbon disulphide is a colourless, flammable liquid with a pungent, sweetish odour. It is used primarily as a solvent in the manufacture of silk, cellophane and other cellulose-based products, as well as in the manufacture of pesticides, rubber chemicals and other industrial products. It is also used as a chemical intermediate for the production of other chemicals, such as carbon tetrachloride, and as a reagent in various laboratory processes. Inhalation of high concentrations of carbon disulphide or prolonged exposure can cause serious health problems.
