2,6-Dimethyl-4-heptanone
Diisobutyl ketone is a colourless liquid with a fruity, pungent odour. It is used as a solvent in a variety of applications including the manufacture of paints, coatings, inks and adhesives. It is also used as a starting material in the synthesis of other chemicals such as plasticizers, lubricants and intermediates for the manufacture of pesticides and pharmaceuticals. It is considered to be a relatively low toxicity chemical but can cause skin and eye irritation and can be harmful if ingested or inhaled.
