Fluorine is a highly reactive and toxic gas at standard temperature and pressure, but can exist as a liquid at very low temperatures. The liquid form of fluorine is pale yellow in colour. Liquid fluorine is used in many industrial and manufacturing applications, including as a component in the production of uranium hexafluoride for nuclear power plants, as a cleaning agent and etchant in the semiconductor industry, and as a component in the production of refrigerants and propellants.
