Mesityloxide, also known as isobutenylmethylketone, is a colorless liquid with a distinctive fruity, floral and spicy odor. Mesityloxide is a synthetic flavoring agent used primarily to impart fruity, floral and spicy flavors to foods and beverages. It is also used in perfumes and cosmetics.
