Picric acid solution in water is a mixture of picric acid and water. Picric acid is highly soluble in water and forms a yellow solution. The concentration of picric acid in solution may vary depending on the intended use. In concentrated form, picric acid in aqueous solution is extremely sensitive to friction, shock and heat, making it highly reactive and potentially dangerous. Under laboratory conditions, picric acid in aqueous solution is used as a reagent and in the synthesis of dyes and other chemicals.
