Trichlorofluoromethane, R-11, Freon 11
Refrigerant type 11 (R-11), also known as trichlorofluoromethane, is a chlorofluorocarbon refrigerant (CFC) that was commonly used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems. R-11 has a high ozone depletion potential and has been banned for new systems due to its harmful effect on the ozone layer. It is now mainly used as an aftermarket option in older systems.
