Dichlorodifluoromethane, R-12, Freon 12
Type 12 refrigerant (R-12), also known as dichlorodifluoromethane, was commonly used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems before it was banned due to its harmful effect on the ozone layer. It has a boiling point of -29.8 °C and is a colourless, non-flammable gas with a sweet smell. It is now mainly used as an aftermarket option in older systems, while newer systems use greener alternatives such as R-134a.

Multilayered sealing material made of expanded graphite reinforced with a larger number of inserts without the use of adhesives. Suitable for higher pressures and temperatures.
It is used in refrigeration and applications where the seal is exposed to external weathering.
