A non-oxidizing salt is a salt that does not release oxygen or increase the oxidation of other substances when dissolved in water. Non-oxidising salts are generally considered safe and are used for a variety of purposes such as flavourings, preservatives and food additives. Examples of non-oxidising salts include table salt (sodium chloride), calcium chloride and magnesium chloride.
